Illustration Friday: Open!

The Illustration Friday site is accepting submissions for a topic named "Open" and this 4" x 6" piece I just finished fits the theme. Initially, the meaning behind the child reading on a turtle, what a second..do I have to explain this? If so, let me know, you might be the one on the turtle:) I know I am!

I don't know what the turtle implies. Is the boy a slow reader? Anyway, I like the drawing!

I love the idea that a book can be opened and enoyed anywhere, even sitting on a turtle.

ever read "Momo" by Michael Ende? A wonderful book -- your illo fits to it.
A very nice style and and good atmosphere in it.
Very nice!

Thanks for the comments! Studio Lolo, the turtle implies that the reader is getting somewhere, slow and steady, just by opening a book. And Claude, I never read that book, but will definitely check it out. Thanks!

"Momo" is a children's book, I don't know if it exists in English, the same author wrote the "never ending story", which is also an incredible book for children and maybe also for adults. I really love these ones!

After doing a little research on "Momo" I came to the conclusion that I have to read the book and see the movie. Something I should have done in 1986. Thanks for the suggestion Claude!
