Black and White Portraits

Alas, a painting I'm currently working on of my Dad and baby Kayla. Lately, painting with simple color schemes on wood has been very rewarding, especially when you rub off some paint to expose the wood for mid-tones! When this painting is finished, I'll update this post.

when you update, can you leave up the in progress shots..I love the forehead and hair brushwork.

Thanks Ben, its turning out good and my dad loves it, but the background is being a pain right now.
Do you see what I mean about oils on wood though?
so much versatility

I love the ghostly Kayla and the wood ground, it has a delightfully archaic feel.
